CHAMBER GOALS
- To support all economic development efforts; encourage and welcome new business and
support & promote existing businesses.
- To implement a Shop Local Campaign that educates the consumer on why this is so
important.
- To pursue opportunities and market the entire County as a meeting and visitor destination
for group tours, sporting and arts events, conferences, and/or conventions.
- To continue awareness of the Las Vegas/San Miguel County region as a film location,
establish a Film Commission and a Film Directory.
- To further establish that "Tourism is Everybody's Business" and assist the service
industry in meeting the needs to prepare for tourism.
- To increase awareness of the Chamber, foster unity and cohesiveness within the business
community, educational institutions and government, and meet the needs of our investors.
- To establish a Junior Chamber of Commerce for the purpose of enhancing the knowledge of
our young leaders about the business world and to address and support the social needs of our
youth.

- Ensure that the first impression to our visitors, newcomers, and dignitaries is
based on solid information provided in a friendly manner.
- Serve on committees that bring new business, attract movies/moviemakers,
advocate for legislative funding and support economic development efforts.
- Refer and promote the existing business community; welcome, recognize and
support new business.
- Participate in City and County plans and projects - assist in the implementation,
when necessary. Collect and disseminate demographic data.
- Educate the business sector by sponsoring forums, workshops, training sessions.
- Prepare conference and convention packets, assist with lodging, reception,
entertainment arrangements.
- Advocate for the business sector in governmental policies.
- Serve as Ambassadors for City and County.

- Answer and mail out any visitor, tour, and relocation inquiries. Totals are
tallied for presentation information to City /County Lodger's Tax , Council and
Commission.
- Make referrals and serve as a source for community information.
- Advertise Las Vegas and San Miguel County in a variety of mediums.
- Maintain and update the City's Official Website.
- Coordinate, maintain , and update the official County -Wide Event Calendar.
- Operate the Welcome Center/Visitor Center and maintain the information on the
City owned Reader Board.
- Update, distribute and print materials that promote the City and County.
- Sponsor and organize community events.
- Website that serves as a 24 hour Visitor Center.
- A yearly calendar of events and event webpage for specific events ONLINE.
