The Benefits of Hiring A Plumber for your Business in an Emergency
Plumbers are professional tradespeople who have mastered the art of installing, fixing and maintaining plumbing systems. The word plumbing comes from the Latin word “plumbum” which is the word for lead, as they used lead pipes for their plumbing needs.
In homes and buildings a plumbing system consists of various pipes, fittings, drains, fixtures and valves, all of which are installed in order to distribute potable water and take away waste water. Every developed economy has these systems and they also have the need for plumbers to fix and maintain these systems.
When you hire a certified and licensed plumber you can be assured that you are hiring a person with great practical knowledge and skill who can diagnose a problem and find a resolution for it, and who can install any type of plumbing that is needed in a home or a building.
A person who desires to become a plumber can look forward to a career that is both in great demand and which can be quite lucrative. The training that a plumber receives involves both practical, on-the-job training as well as classroom training which covers reading of blueprints, the math and physics of plumbing, as well as overall plumbing theory and application.
A plumber will spend from two to five years as a plumber apprentice, where he or she will work under a licensed plumber and be paid for the work, while at the same time, in many cases, classes will be taken for the theory part of the process.
Once a person has put in time as an apprentice, and completed the coursework, he or she will be eligible to take a certification test, where a journeyman’s license can be applied for. Generally, a test is given so the individual can demonstrate that they have the level of knowledge to be designated as a journeyman.
After a certain period of time, which can vary from state to state, the journeyman plumber can apply for a Master Plumber’s License, and this usually requires a test as well.
Once a person has a journeyman’s license, the individual can work on an independent basis. When a person holds a master plumber’s license, they can work as a plumbing contractor or start their own plumbing business.
So if you have a licensed plumber coming to your home to do work, you can be assured that this individual already has a good body of work under his belt in order to rectify any problems that you may be having.
Plumbing can become quite complex, and when it is realized that much of the work is in places that cannot be seen by sight, the diagnosis of the problem has to be made based on experience and knowledge.
Some of the problems that occur in our homes can be handled without calling a plumber, such as a clogged sink when the blockage is near the drain, but when there is a major blockage in a main pipe, it is usually time to call the plumber.
